How To Unleash Innovation: 7. How will you prioritise and decide?

Transcript

Question 7 is about decision making. How will you decide on which ideas to progress?

Generating ideas is easy, but ensuring they are the right ideas is much harder.

It’s crucial to have a clear decision-making process in place. We follow a simple framework called DCV. Is the idea desirable to consumers. Is it credible for us as a brand. And is it viable for us to produce profitably?

Passion, excitement and emotion should also play a significant role in deciding. The road ahead will be challenging and great ideas fuelled by passion can build organisational momentum behind them and have a much greater chance of succeeding.

Finally, it’s better to focus on fewer, bigger, better ideas rather than trying to push through too many. A narrow set that excite you and that you can iterate on are far better than dozens that you are less excited by.

Join us next time as we explore the eighth and final question: How will you create momentum and ownership?
